What is Color Analysis?

Personal color analysis determines the color tone of your skin and uses seasonal tones to create color harmony in one’s appearance.

Colors that are not in harmony with our own coloring create unattractive optical illusions, while colors that are in harmony with our skin create a pleasing impression. As every artist knows, beauty presents itself as one unified whole. Just as there is beauty in music and displeasure in noise, the brain is affected by color in the same way.

"Personal color analysis is a science based on facts.  It is not a passing fad or fancy, but rather the evolution of an awareness of our own coloring, its significance and implications."                                                                             Kathryn Kalisz, Founder of Sci\ART™

Why Color Analysis?

  • A fact, substantiated by extensive research, is this: color, more than anything else, crates the very first, and most powerful visual impression. Would you like to discover why certain colors look great on you and others drown you out?

  • Would you enjoy a harmonious wardrobe, one that mixes and matches flawlessly without much effort?

  • Would you like to avoid buying clothes that ultimately feel “off”?

  • Have you ever felt like you needed to wear more make up to compensate with certain colors?

  • Would you like to look your healthiest and most radiant self before even putting on a smidge of make up?

  • Would you like to streamline shopping by only looking at items that are going to flatter YOU?

Color Analysis studies the way colors look on your skin, discovering which colors (and ultimately which palettes) harmonize with your natural appearance and make your eyes shine. It’s more than saying which colors look good on you but why they work for you and in turn which colors to avoid. In receiving your color analysis, you will learn the “right” tone for you, in every color!

 FAQs

  • Please arrive with a fresh face - no make up, sunburn, sunless tanner, tinted brows or perfume. A slight natural tan is acceptable - I need to be able to see your gorgeous natural features to see how color interacts with your skin. I may also ask that long hair be pulled int a ponytails during the draping.

If you wear glasses, I may ask you to remove them at certain points in the draping process, contacts maybe a more preferred option.

If you would like to swatch some of your favorite pieces of clothing or make up, you can bring them to your appointment and I would be happy to do that with you!

  • If you color your hair, we will use a cap during your analysis. We can also discuss hair color suited to your tone.

  • If you have received a virtual or digital analysis, there is much room for error as computers monitors and digital images are not calibrated accurately enough for an analysis. Lighting is also a significat factor in analysis and that may vary photo by photo which can lead to more confusion.

Unfortunately there is no “standard” for color analysis. Many use a 4 season method which is not based on scientific color theory and is often incorrect. A twelve season model is more likely to give you a correct result. However, methods do vary. I chose to train with Nikki Bordgus of PrismXII because I believe that her training is the most scientifically based and most precise of those in the esteemed Sci/Art method.

  • Yes please! In fact, I advise you to bring someone who knows you well! It is so fun to share the experience of color analysis with a friend, and also to have another set of eyes see the difference the right colors make! I would suggest that no more than 2 friends due to space limitations.

  • Not at all! PCA is for men and women (and youth!) of every skin tone.

*Youth consultation requires that the individual has the ability to sit for an extended time and attention. Before the age of 10, color is still settling and a a re-analysis after puberty may be suggested.

The Palettes.

The 60 colors presented in your palette/fan are CORE colors for your seasonal tone.

The 12 seasonal tone palettes have been created using authentic, accurate Munsell colors. They are created using the Hue, Value, and Chroma dimensions and can be measured, using a Spectrophotometer, to confirm their similar dimensions. Other palettes on the market may present colors that are not found in the PrismXII palettes. This is due to the fact that they are not accurate or scientifically correct in the Munsell color ‘space’. You will receive your personal palette during your analysis.
